Guidelines for Submitting Work for IOU

We encourage email submissions with work sent as individual attachments (.doc files). Submit no more than one short story or essay, and no more than three poems or short prose pieces. Prose should be typed double-spaced and be no longer than thirty pages. Poems should be single-spaced. Include your name on each page. Please include a short bio in your email message, including your mailing address and phone number.

Our reading period is September 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010. Email submissions to ronslate@comcast.net. Or, mail submissions to:

      Concord Free Press
      Attn: IOU
      152 Commonwealth Avenue
      Concord Massachusetts 01742.

Please include a SASE for our response and return of work. We’ll respond to email submissions via email.

We’re committed to respond to your work within one month. Please don’t query or send revisions.
Simultaneous submissions to other journals are permissible as long as they are indicated as such and we are notified immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. We don’t reprint previously published work.

      IOU
will be published in a high-quality production run of 2,000 paperback copies. Each contributor will receive 5 copies, all intended for distribution to others, of course.
